The Mirror Worlds

“First the Gods made the Mirror World, for it mirrored the Heavens, and they ruled it for an age lasting eighty-one millennia in harmony and peace. All were joyous and knew neither pain nor death.

Then war arrived. The youngest of the Gods rebelled against the eldest, the Heavens were defiled, and by violence the Mirror World was sundered. So one became two; the Mirror World became the Mirror Worlds — World and Otherworld.

The Gods, mournful, departed.

The children of the Gods, most noble Edan, then ruled the Mirror Worlds for nine thousand years until they too went, as their bodies slowly faded.
They gave rule of the World to Men. Yet the gates through which the Gods and Edan left, though shut, were never locked.”
